Jenny & Will at Dunglass Estate, Scotland

Some weddings just have a feeling to them, and Jenny and Will’s was one of those days.

They got married at Dunglass Estate in East Lothian, with their two children there alongside them and surrounded by the people they love most. There was something really special about watching the four of them move through the day together. And then there’s Dunglass itself; The old church, the Scottish countryside and that slightly unpredictable light make it feel romantic without needing to try very hard.

There was no shortage of beautiful things to photograph, but the images I keep coming back to aren't necessarily the obvious ones. It's the glances across the room, friends squeezed together at dinner and the moments happening when nobody thinks they're being photographed.

I loved how unhurried it all felt. There was space for conversations to run long, for the kids to wander in and out of the frame, and for Jenny and Will to actually be present with everyone who had travelled to celebrate with them. Nothing felt overly orchestrated, which is usually when the best photographs happen anyway. The kind you don't necessarily know you need at the time, but end up meaning everything later.

I photographed Jenny and Will's wedding with a documentary approach, letting them spend the day with their children and their people rather than constantly pulling them away for photographs. It makes for a gallery to look back on that feels lived-in, honest and maybe just a bit iconic.
